Inside surface documents

Representation of data...

Wintrack surface documents contain a surface plot which consists of colored rectangular tiles and a color scale. Each tile represents a value of the surface variable from which the surface plot was derived. The color scale determines how variable values are translated into tile colors. The 11 scale colors are set by selecting one of Wintrack's predefined color schemes. The corresponding 11 scale values can either be set manually or automatically. When computing tile colors, Wintrack uses linear interpolation between scale values and colors. Surface documents are stored on disk in the proprietary Wintrack surface document file format (extension .WSF) which preserves full precision and formatting.

Surface windows...

Wintrack surface documents are displayed on screen in surface document windows. If there is empty space in a document window because it is larger than the graph it displays, double-click anywhere in the window and it will shrink to fit the graph and scale. To assure readability on screen, the color scale is displayed at a fixed size on the left side of the surface plot. The color scale is hidden if the document window does not provide enough space to display it. However, when printing surface documents or when copying them to the Windows™ clipboard, the color scale is resized dynamically to match the size of the graph.

Commands to manipulate surface documents...

The Open Surface Document command loads existing surface document files. New surface documents are created using the New Surface Document command and saved to disk using the Save Surface Document As and Save Surface Document commands. The Print Surface Document command allows you to print surface documents to a printer or to copy them to the Windows™ clipboard for transfer to other Windows™ applications. The Surface Properties command is used to change the color scheme and scale values of a surface document.
