Learning Wintrack step by step using the tutorial

This tutorial pops up automatically whenever Wintrack is run for the first time on a machine. However, you can access the tutorial anytime by selecting Tutorial from Wintrack's Help menu.

The tutorial lessons provide a step by step introduction to working in Wintrack. It is assumed that you are already familiar with the basic functionality of MS Windows™ and its on-line help system. Please consult the respective user manuals if you are not. You will most rapidly learn how to use Wintrack if you carefully step through the lessons in the indicated order and carry out the instructed actions immediately. If your screen is too small to display Wintrack and the tutorial side by side, you may want to print the lessons on paper before working through them. You do this by selecting Print Topic from the File menu of the tutorial window. The lessons of the tutorial contain numerous URLs. You can click any of these links to be taken to other topics which are related to the one you are currently viewing. This is optional information, however. It is not intended that you follow all possible links while working through the tutorial for the first time - or else you are very likely to get lost.

If you are new to Wintrack, you should carefully step through the first set of essential lessons in order to familiarize yourself with the basic concepts of Wintrack:

Lesson 1 Opening your first case document
Lesson 2 Setting time windows and zooming
Lesson 3 Analyzing trial variables
Lesson 4 Using dialog history lists and the toolbar
Lesson 5 Acquiring new data
Lesson 6 Analyzing case variables using drag and drop

For the advanced user, Wintrack offers increased flexibility through the use of custom setup files and custom variable definition files. The second set of tutorial lessons provides a step by step introduction to these advanced features:

Lesson 7 Custom analysis and custom setup files
Lesson 8 Bullet analysis of data
Lesson 9 Profile analysis of data
Lesson 10 Custom trial analysis of data
Lesson 11 Custom case analysis of data
Lesson 12 Surface analysis of data

If you want to get the most out of Wintrack's custom setup and variable definition files, you will probably have to use macros. The last set of lessons in this tutorial provide a step by step introduction to writing and using Wintrack macros:

Lesson 13 Wintrack macros
Lesson 14 Parameter tables for macros

After you have worked yourself through all or part of the lessons of the Wintrack tutorial you are ready to use and explore Wintrack on your own. Wintrack provides extensive on-line help which will assist you at any point of your work. To learn how to access Wintrack on-line help, press the Contents button at the top of this window.
