Locate Help Home Page command

How to set the location of the help home page...

  1. Select Locate Help Home Page from the Help menu.
  2. A dialog box appears. Press the Help button if you need instructions on how to fill in the dialog box fields. Fill in the fields that are not grayed or accept defaults and press Ok to continue. Or press Cancel to abort.
  3. Wintrack will set the location of the help home page accordingly.

Wintrack has HTML based help which you access using your web browser. In fact, Wintrack's help system is identical to the section Looking for reference information? of the Wintrack web site. As you install the program, a local copy of the whole site is placed in the subfolder Hlp of the Wintrack program folder, including the Wintrack home page file Index.htm. For help information to be accessible from within Wintrack, the program needs to know where to find Index.htm and the other folders and files belonging to the Wintrack web site. You are asked to specify this location the first time you run the program after installation and must update it whenever you decide to move the web site files to a different location on your PC.

Getting help via the Internet

Instead of specifying the path to the local copy of Index.htm, you can enter WWW into the corresponding field of the dialog. This instructs Wintrack to retrieve actualized help information via the Internet, directly from the Wintrack web site. Please note that the web site always contains information relevant to the most recent version of Wintrack. This information may not be accurate if you are running an older version of Wintrack.
